Why is it that we are never satisfied?
Never sated with the food, the wine, the entertainment.
I am full yet I want more.
The more I travel, the more I wish to see.
The more I read, the more books I long to discover.
The more I write,
the more the words bubble up and overflow
“With beaded bubbles winking at the brim”.
Yet with God…
With God, I’m satisfied with so little.
Taste and see,
and that seems enough.
Hear today
and tomorrow, I forget to listen.
Enough is never enough
except in the one thing that matters.
O Lord,
Give me more hunger.
