Focus on the King

It’s not about you.  It is about the King.  Focus on him.

From Hadassah, by Tommy Tenney.

Hadassah is a ‘novelised’ retelling of the Biblical story of Esther. In it, Tenney hypothesises that Esther’s success in being chosen as Queen could have been due to all the other ‘contestants’ vying to get as much for themselves as possible, and to do the things that they considered to be best and most likely to succeed.

Esther humbles herself and listens to others who know the King, seeking to learn from them what he likes, what would bring him pleasure.

The advice above is whispered into her heart by the Holy Spirit and by choosing to follow it, she becomes Queen and is ultimately able to save her people from annihilation.

I have it written out somewhere where I’ll see it occasionally and remember to stop putting myself at the centre of my life and instead, to focus on my King, the King over all kings.
