And the winners are…

And the winners are…

…Janice (x2), Heather, Vicki and Pinky!

Thank you so much for entering the competition, everyone. I really appreciate it, and all your encouraging words.

I have emailed each of the winners, so if you are named above and haven’t heard from me, check your spam folder in case the message has gone astray. (Pinky is my neighbour, so I went to hand her her copy in person. Thank you, Pinky, for taking the photo above, of me reconstructing drawing the names from the hat!)

If you didn’t win but would like to buy a copy, the cheapest place for new copies, including postage, currently seems to be Christian Medical Fellowship, where I used to work. For used copies, Awesome Books and Ebay have a few each. All of these are in the UK, so if you’re reading this elsewhere, you’ll just have to do your own online search.

And while you’re waiting, let me encourage you with a quote from the story of my friend Rachel Wilson, which she shares in my book. Rachel and her husband, Andrew, have two autistic children. Despite their desperate prayers, Rachel and Andrew didn’t receive the healing they longed for in their children.  But they did receive a deep contentment and joy in God in the midst of the trial. Rachel says:

Going through this struggle has given me faith that God satisfies my soul with good things, even if those good things aren’t the things I expected. Our life is so full of joy. Even if the joy isn’t in the context we expected, [God] has satisfied our soul with good things.

My friends, my dear readers, it can be so painful when God doesn’t give us the thing we ask him for, but we are surrounded by a ‘great cloud of witnesses’ who assure us that when we put our trust in him, he does satisfy our deepest needs. He gives us deep joy. And he gives us something that is better by far – he gives us himself.

May you all always find your deepest joy in him alone.
