I don’t normally post about the international days of this, that or the other. It’s always international day of something, and I just can’t keep up.
However, an interview with one remarkable young girl has been making the rounds today, and I thought it was worth sharing.
There are lots of girls in the world in incredible need, victimised and persecuted simply because of their gender. There are many who live in oppressive home environments or oppressive societies.
Malala Yousafzai was one of them. You’ve probably heard of her; she was the teenager who survived a shot to the head by a Taliban gunman. She is hotly tipped to win the Nobel Peace Prize. This short video illustrates why. I’m sure this thoughtfulness, grace and courage before the attack were at least part of what sustained her during and after it.
Yes, she was shot, but would you call her a victim?
