Rushing, hurrying, bustling, worrying,
Gaping, staring, hoping, fearing.
Seeing the lions in Trafalgar Square,
Walking past houses of millionaires.
Bridges and beaches and castles and courts,
Markets, museums and galleries of course.
The river, the parks and the wide open spaces,
The alleys and tubes crammed with thousands of faces.
Theatres, cathedrals and concerts and Games,
A zoo, an aquarium, the Hampton Court maze.
This city I love often brings me to tears
For all of it’s precious, and ‘all life is here’.

Once again, Five Minute Friday has brought out the poet in me! There is so much Lisa-Jo’s prompts bring to mind, I can’t begin to tackle them except in the sparser, more expressive form of poetry. Thanks Lisa-Jo – it’s been a long time since I’ve written poems, thanks for making it happen!

My favorite city! Love how you’ve described it. Makes me want to hop on a plane today!

Thanks, Denise. Sorry for the slow reply (and for totally missing your last comment) – you got sent to spam, for no good reason, and I’ve only just checked it. Thanks for stopping by!
